Late last year I had a potential client reach out to me on one of our sites. He stated that my site made him dizzy and he was unable to navigate through it easily.
At the time I really didn’t think anything of it, I told him that I would have our web-designers look into it, and do some market research regarding the number of potential clients that we had that were having similar experiences.
After this he reached out at least five more times. I didn’t know what he wanted, I mean I had already told him that we would look into it what else did he want from us. After all in our heads if one is having an issue navigating ones site, maybe they would just elect to move on.
It was a few weeks, before I was served with a LAWSUIT, I had no idea what it was for, because we pride ourselves in being ethical, and honest. When I opened it; there is was a complaint saying that my site violated the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). I was shocked to say the least. I immediately picked up the phone and contacted my attorney. As I didn’t know what the heck they were talking about.
Well, my attorney did some research and found that as a Website owner that there are portions of the ADA that we are required to follow. I was also told by my attorney that there were some “bottom feeder” attorney’s (my words not theirs). Who are like ambulance chasers and search the internet everyday to find the unsuspecting website owners who are not compliant and start filing lawsuits.
When I found this out I did some research of my own. What I found was astonishing. I found that they are going after whatever pockets they can. If you don’t have the money to pay the bills, or to become compliant it ruins your business/organization which you’ve worked so hard to create.
This was could be absolutely devastating for many. I mean for a lot of people their business is their life, and their only way of making a living. To have this abruptly taken from you ‘t without notice, I am glad that I had the resources to pay for this to be resolved; quickly and efficiently.
The “Good News” I did all the learning so you don’t have to. Now I can offer you the ability to keep your site compliant and accessible to the disabled. While opening yourself up to a market which you previously could not service through your site.
CLICK HERE and get ADA compliant within five days. If you are already under attack send us an email and we will rush your order for a nominal expedited fee.
Whatever you do don’t ignore this. As I quickly found out this could have cost me a lot of money. I mean the lawsuit started at $67,000 and added all kind of violations on to this. Take a look here to get an idea of how your notification will look. https://haloconsumeradvocates.org
